We showed lawyers whats mad ads!!

It was 10.00am on the 23rd of November,2007. A bright and sunny morning with clear blue skies and i was still in bed!! Suddenly the whole world around me started shaking and i woke up with a start. i looked around to make sure it wasn't an earthquake and in fact it wasn't.. it was just my phone vibrating (believe me its annoying!!).
"Hello?"
"chappar where are you?? its late!! 2 of them are here already.. rajiv and franz on their way.. get to coll now!!"
"Aye Aye, narrator."
I rushed to the bathroom for a quick shower and in 15mins i was on my way to college. Well if u know me, u'd no my 15mins is about an hour or a li'l more. So i got to college at 11.30, picked up the narrator and met teammate rajiv behind college. Then came the startling revelation from another teammate, barath, who was now in RVCE- "The mads competition in RV isn't today, its tomorrow!!". The 3 of us along with franz then decided to watch the Indo-Pak match at my place. Half way there, barath calls again-"guys mad ads in National Law School starts in half-an-hour!!".
Here we go again!! we headed straight to NLS from wherever we were. Believe me its an awesome ride once you're in the BU campus, scenic and calm.. Once at NLS we found out their time-sense was no better than mine. In fact, it was worse!! The event got delayed a million times for a million different reasons. So, in the meanwhile we took part in some events which we had no clue about and more importantly, we were treated with visual bliss during this period!! OMG, all the gorgeous women were there or what!!
Anyways, the event began finally at 4 p m. As usual, being the pros we're, the script was finalized moments before the performance. The performance started well with the first scene doing tremendously well though it lacked its usual star actor who was absent today. One more scene later the very same "star actor" calls-
"hello, dude wats happening??"
"We are in the midst of the performance, 'll call u back!"
I did call him back and said "Dude, we won!!" and the rest was history!!
The lawyers had just been treated to 8 mins of absolute fun and laughter they'd never or 'd ve never witnessed in any court of law!!
Take-a-bow boys, we ve dunnit again!!
All-in-all, it was great day at work and i pity the ones who missed out on this performance!!

The Cheat and the Undeserved Defeat!!

It was a saturday and i was attending my beloved grandmum's death anniversary. As i spoke to my cousin about India's performance in the 20-20 world cup, my phone buzzed.. It was Avinash, my madads team narrator. "Macha mad ads today in the afternoon. Finish there and come to college". It was welcome news. After all, we were performing after a long time...
As i walked towards the venue of the event, burping off all the heavy lunch, i saw my team, in 'almost' full strength, walking up to the venue too.. Ah a good sign, i thought. "We're late, its started already", shouted one. We all rushed to the auditorium. Sitting in a corner of the lobby, we gave final touches to the script. In ten minutes, it was time!!
We were welcomed by a thunderous applause as we took our positions on either sides of the stage. The narrator started... What happened in the next 6-7 minutes cannot be put in words!! It was a rocking performance. People were left in splits and we were happy about the performance too.
Ten minutes later we were back on stage.. It was the second round of the competition and we were feeling all the more confident about winning, given the kind of lukewarm response other teams had got.. Oh my god!! We rocked again.. Shaking hands with 'fans' we made our way to an empty row of seats and awaited the results..
The judge for the day, fuc"K" came on stage with the result sheet in his hands. "Any guesses?", he asked.. "LMT, LMT, LMT,.." sang the crowd.. "And the winner is.......... ". IT WASN'T US!! The fuc"K" had done it again!! The fuc"K" had cheated us again!!
I hate the fuc"K", I hate his ability to constantly cheat us and stab us in the back and I hate the jackass who made him the judge.

To the Novice: There are a lot of fuc"K"s around in the world mad ads. Don't let them hinder your spirits. "F"*** them!!

Who is a mad-adian??

I've said much about the requirements of building a mad ads team and the comments that followed were some valuable encores. Hope that benifits a few.
Mad ads is normally the most-looked-foward-to-event in every college fest today. The stage and the surrounding areas wear a deserted look and the few in the audience enjoy a nice siesta even as the guy on stage sings, dances and talks his ass off tryin to impress them. But, the moment the announcement's made, "NEXT UP"S MAD ADS", the audience wake up with a start, people from every nook n corner of the campus come rushin and the crowd comes alive!! Such is the anticipation from this event, wow!!
Anticipation, yes that's wat u, as a mad ads team, need to respect. The audience has had a hard time, some screwed up their exams, some got punched in the nose by the college "hero", some got dumped by their boy/girl friends and rest were just worth a hard time. Its this frustration, anger and grief that makes the audience look forward to the event. They have forgotten have to smile and feel happy and that's wat they hope mad ads would help them remember. As u have realised by now, by being a part of a mad ads team u're serving a purpose, a social cause!! U're entrusted with tremendous responsibility to bring light into the lives of those to whom darkness is all pervasive!! In a nut shell, "U" are incarnation of the man upstairs!!
As Spiderman once said, with great power comes great responsibility!!
Live up to it, to the anticipation and to the responsibility and never disappoint the audience..

Requirement 1:

THE RIGHT TEAM

Its important to have a good team. A good mad ads team has to be a carefully chosen mixture of the specimens- A kick ass narator, The Thin dude and the fat bob, The guy who plays the girl, The nervous wreck, The serious, the hilarious and the moderate, The dwarf and giant, etc.. Choosing a team is much like cooking that exotic dish u ate in the star restaurant.

Caution: Too many similar characters or too many extremes are hazardous!!

Requirement 2:

A GOOD SCRIPT

A good script is the basic requirement of a mad ads team. Sit down with ur team and brainstorm to get those whacky ideas outta ur butts or wherever u've them hidden. Ideas need not always be excellent and path breaking. No matter how bad it is, put it across to the team. Many a times, such flop-ideas lead to the best of the jokes. Before finalising ur script, make sure it makes u laugh in the first place.
Golden Rule: Something u can't laugh at, can't make others laugh for a sure!!

Requirement 3:

HUNGER FOR FUN N NOT MONEY

The important thing to keep in mind is that ur on stage to have fun and not for the lucrative prize money at stake. Go on stage and enjoy what u re doing. If u end up havin fun on stage then its a good indication that u've given it ur best. That sense of satisfaction is more important than the money. Money 'll fall in line as u pass on the fun u've on stage to the audience.

Requirement 4:

PATIENCE:

Patience is very important!! U can't expect urself to be the best at the art at the first shot. It takes time, sometimes less and sometimes more. The important thing is to perform consistently, without getting disheartened, and to better urself with each performance. Sometimes it so happens that u lose even if u were the best; Don't worry, u won't be the first
victim. To put it in a nutshell, Patience pays!!
